The dataset contains density data (number per square meter) of earthworms in The Netherlands. The data were collected from 1997 up to and including 2011.
This dataset has been replaced by a much more elaborated dataset with data from the same monitoring program, including sampling events: "Earthworms and potworms in Dutch soils from the National Biological Soil Monitoring project 1997-2014". https://doi.org/10.15468/fsxvp7.

収集方法
Soil samples were taken in The Netherlands almost every year from 1997 up to and including 2011. Each year about 40 locations were sampled, several of them more than once, in a five years cycle. Altogether about 390 different locations were sampled in the period 1997 - 2011. Per location six soil samples (cubes of 20x20x20 cm of topsoil) were taken and analyzed for earthworms.

Method step description:
- Earthworm density was calculated as number per square meter. The coordinates of the locations are accurate up till 1 km. Higher taxonomic groups (kingdom, phylum, class, order, family) were abstracted form the Fauna Europaea (http://www.faunaeur.org/) database for each species and added to the dataset.
