Description
This dataset contains all specimen data of the new species Etainia thoraceleuca van Nieukerken, Epstein & Davis, 2024, the second native North American species of that genus. The species is known from light collected adults in the USA: California, Arizona, and Canada: Ontario. These were linked via DNA barcodes to larvae that make short leafmines that continue feeding in stems and branches of Arbutus and Arctostaphylos species, causing damage in nurseries and planted trees in Sonoma and Marin Counties, California. The Holotype, was accidentally reared from Arbutus arizonica, without observing the damage.
The compilation comprises all records of E. thoraceleuca as validated by the authors, including observation data both from adults and larval damage on the platforms iNaturalist, Bugguide and DNA barcoding data from BOLD Systems.
The species has been described by van Nieukerken et al. (2024).
Data Records
The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 63 records.
This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.
Versions
The table below shows only published versions of the resource that are publicly accessible.
